Blurb
A spirit as resilient and as relentless as the rivers. A love that burns as bright as an inferno.
Mio has a plan, to infiltrate the Andan fire clans and to locate the hidden cache of dragon eggs being smuggled through the country. Her plan is to choose a fire witch as her consort, she just doesn't know where to find one. The answer seems to fall right into her lap when her caravan is attacked by a group of element-wielding bandits and Mio sets her eyes on one particularly temperamental and ferocious topaz-clad fire witch. Mio only needs one encounter to decide that she wants the testy, hot-headed bandit leader, Seungkyo, as her own. The only problem? He wants nothing to do with her, or with any female witch, ever. So Mio improvises, offering him a price to help her and her coven recover a shipment of smuggled dragon eggs. Only, this ends up with Seungkyo accidentally hatching a dragon of his own and having no idea what to do with it. Mio sees her chance and forms a tentative alliance with Seungkyo and his bandits, helping Seungkyo establish a safe place for the other men like him while also trying to get him to warm up to the idea of accepting her offer for consort. But Seungkyo is as unpredictable as his gift, and every time Mio takes one step forward Seungkyo takes two steps back, seemingly fated to be opposing forces forever. Then one of Mio's friends is kidnapped and taken by an extensive and potentially volatile ring of traffickers. Seungkyo and Mio must find a way to come together to battle not only political corruption, but also the enemies of Seungkyo's past, all while trying to shift through the growing connection between each other and what it means to them, and to their future.
